You are absolutely right, but the problem is that we are trying to keep our articles easy to understand. The examples you have mentioned are a bit more complicated and difficult for us to explain for beginner users.

The big companies like Microsoft, Google, Yahoo and others are exceptions, since they spread their users’ requests among different servers BUT in all cased the first request is still sent to the same server There are several ways how to do that:
 
May be you payed attention that when you are trying to open google.com web site you could be redirected to google.fr or google.co.uk, which are country based. OR may be you notices that most social networks have lots of sub domains (srv1.example.com, srv2.example.com, img.example.com) which are located on different IPs.

Also there is more complicated way (hidden from user) to spread traffic among different servers: the domain’s IP is determined by DNS server, who selects the server with lowest load at the current time. That means: if you will ping microsoft.com web site from different countries or on different time you will get different IP addresses

Here is the trick if you will request google.com web site (that domain is taken just an example) your request could be forwarded to different IPs all the time. BUT if you like on of their servers then you can force you browser to request google.com web site from that particular server. All you need is to use IP instead of domain name http://209.85.129.103

You are absolutely right the democracy means freedom of speech, if some countries start blocking access to some web sites that means they control their users' will.

Internet is the best way to get thousands of different ideas about single fact. After, it is up to the person to make a conclusion which is right or even more, he/she could combine some parts from different ideas and create his/her own idea about the truth.

Or for example is some cases, some countries block access to adult web sites. I think that is not right too! It is up to the person to decide is that right content for them or not. Why someone should decide for them? They are adults and are not they are responsible for their lives by their own?

Some other countries block access to search engines for example. With help of google.com user could easily find any kind of information within 5 minutes. The easiest is to control ‘blind’ person than the one who is well informed.
 
With help of internet it becomes more difficult to sail under false colors.

I am really sorry for being late with reply to your question but when you ask us about anonymizers that brought us to idea that we have to describe all proxy types, instead of describing only anonymizers. Users should know what are the advantages and disadvantages of each proxy type.

You will not believe but 80% of the users, we speak every day, had no idea that any usage of BotNet is already against the law or the high chance to loose password when they use some unknown anonymizers.

Of course all that types are just a general description. Most of them have sub categories... for example I know at least 3 different BotNets, two types of anonymizers and so on.

First of all thank you very much for you report.

The problem is that you have selected automatic proxy download every 5 minutes, plus you have selected our service as proxy source.

If you have our VIP password then please enter it in the field ‘Your VIP code’ otherwise If you have proxy from some other third party proxy provider please use their URL and enter it a bit down, in the field ‘User your own URL’.

If you do not have nor your URL neither our VIP password than simply disable automatic proxy load. You do not need it since you do not have any remote proxy sources.

You can still use our addon with manually loaded proxy list. Simply click on the menu item ‘Manage proxy server’.

Case the problem remains please let us me know.

p.s. with next update we will add automatic configuration checker to prevent such errors.

First of all thank you very much for your post. As for your doubts about UK proxy servers they are wrong I guess you do not know that proxy servers moves from VIP zone to public only after it has bad uptime or it was dead during last 10 minutes. The reason why there are no more FREE UK proxy servers is obvious; they get better and cannot be places in public zone. Also the problem could be that we select only random 80 proxy servers for FREE zone. During last months we improved the amount of working proxy servers from different countries, so the probability that the UK proxy swill get in FREE zone gets less.

BTW you can always check if there are any working UK or any other proxy servers in VIP zone. All you need is to filter proxy servers on our web site by country. By default you will see all proxy servers, including VIP ones. The only difference is that you will not be able to see their IP until you will not be our VIP member.

i.e. right now there are 13 UK proxy servers available for VIP members during last 10 minutes (screenshot).

p.s. please do not forget that you can always ask for any 3 proxy servers from VIP zone to test their speed and stability by your own.

* Нас неоднократно просили и мы наконец смогли выполнить вашу просьбу, добавив возможность которая сделает всех счастливыми Как вам известно до этого момента была единственная возможность загружать прокси лист – через URL. Но после последнего обновления, стало возможным вручную загружать собственные прокси в Premium Proxy Switcher, используя простые команды копировать/вставить. Идеально, не правда ли? Что касается технических нюансов, после добавления собственных прокси, они будут отображаться в самом верху листа. А ниже - будут прокси из нашей VIP зоны или любого другого источника, который вы используете (URL).
* Также мы намного улучшили операцию выборки прокси сервера. Раньше, после того как вы выбирали прокси сервер, он автоматически перемещался в конец списка. Теперь выбранный прокси остается на своем месте, а вместо этого выделяется жирным шрифтом. Маленькая инновация, но думаю она сделает процесс использования нашего Premium Proxy Switcher-а еще более комфортным.
* Мы исправили ошибку, которая заключалась в том что после удаления прокси командой 'пометить выбранный как мертвый' автоматически не выбирался новый случайный из списка, если в Firefox-е было включено использовать прокси.
* Мы исправили ошибку связанную с Firefox 2.*, когда дополнение не обновляло прокси лист после нажатия на кнопку ОК в настройках. Теперь все работает так же исправно, как и в Firefox 3.*.

* Также была устранена ошибка, связанная с определением страны к которой принадлежит прокси сервер из независимого источника, если наш сервер не смог определить страну (не отображался белый флажок с вопросительным знаком).
* Как вы уже заметили, при загрузке прокси серверов из независимых источником мы отображали только 20. Такое решение было принято в связи с тем, что некоторые умники подгружали в дополнение разом 5000 прокси... это в свою очередь, в первые дни, не раз было причиной падения сервера. Что бы устранить эту проблемы и для повышения скорости было принято решение сохранять данные на стороне клиента, о принадлежности того или иного прокси к некой стране. Таким образом, дополнение будет само определять страну, если данный прокси уже раз был определен, тем самым вы экономите время, нет необходимости ждать ответ от нашего сервера. Те же прокси что не смогли автоматически определиться, будут пересылаются к нам на определение прежним методом.
* Мы устранили ошибку, когда смена прокси сервера на случайный, вызывала скрытую ошибку в Firefox-е, если в листе не больше одного прокси.

* We were asked many times and finally we have added the option which will make everybody even more happy. As you know before today there was only one option when you used to work with third party proxy service. You could upload proxies to the firefox plugin only from the url with proxies. Forget about this. Now you add proxies from the third party source with simply copy/paste action. Great, isn't it? As for technical nuances, when you add proxies by your own(copy/paste) they will be always on top, above proxies from our VIP zone if you have some or above the proxies uploaded through the url.
* Also we brought some more comfort with proxy selection. Before, when you used to mark the proxy you wanted to use, after selection it used to go at the bottom of the list, now after selection the proxy stays in the position it used to be before marking. Also the selected proxy servers are shown with bold numbers. This is little, but really good thing to make your proxy usage much more comfortable.
* We fixed the bug when you marked current proxy as dead, it removed from the list but addon will not switch to some other random proxy server (when proxy usage was enabled)
* There was a problem with Firefox 2.* versions with automatic proxy download after pressing OK button in preferences window. Right now everything works the same like Firefox 3.*
* If you setup proxy server from the Firefox's settings menu the addon will not just change its state but will show you what proxy server (IP:PORT) you have set in Firefox.
* The bug with third party proxy service, when we could not identify some country of the uploaded proxy is sorted out. Now everything works fine (there was no white flag with question mark).
* As you already noticed, with third party proxy server provider we show only 20 proxies in addon. This was done because of some ‘smart’ guys who used to upload proxy list with over 5000 proxy servers at one time. Exactly that overload our server during the first days when this option was added to our addon. To sort out the problem and speedup addon, we decided to cache recently checked proxy servers on client’s side. So, if you already used the proxy server before, then addon will automatically detect its country. That at the end will mean faster proxy list load. As for new ones they will be detected in the old way, with help of our server resources.
* We fix the bug when proxy switch operation could cause the hidden Firefox error, if there was just one available proxy server in the list.
